Install Python on Windows

Step 1: Visit the Python Website

Open your browser and go to:

https://www.python.org/downloads/

Step 2: Download Python

Click:

Download Python 3.x.x

The installer (.exe file) will begin downloading.

Step 3: Run the Installer

Double-click the downloaded installer.

You'll see the Python Setup window.

Step 4: Click Install Now

Select:  Install Now

The installation process will start.

Step 5: Complete Installation

After installation, you'll see:

Setup was successful

Click: Close

Step 6: Verify Installation

Open Command Prompt and run:

python --version

Expected output:

Python 3.13.5

Check pip:

pip --version

Install Python on macOS

Step 1: Download Python

Visit:

https://www.python.org/downloads/macos/

Download the latest macOS installer package.

Step 2: Open the Installer

Double-click the downloaded .pkg file.

Step 3: Continue Installation

Click:

  • Continue

  • Agree

  • Install

Enter your Mac password when prompted.

Step 4: Finish Installation

After completion, click: Close

Step 5: Verify Python Installation

Open Terminal and run:

python3 --version

Expected result:

Python 3.13.5

Verify pip:

pip3 --version

Install Python on Ubuntu Linux

Step 1: Update Package Repository

Open Terminal.

Run:

sudo apt update

Step 2: Install Python

Run:

sudo apt install python3

Type:

Y

when prompted.

Step 3: Install Pip

Run:

sudo apt install python3-pip

Step 4: Verify Installation

Run:

python3 --version

and

pip3 --version

Common Installation Issues

·         Python Command Not Found

Solution : Reinstall Python and ensure:  Add Python to PATH is checked.

·         Pip Not Recognized

Run: python -m ensurepip –upgrade or python3 -m ensurepip --upgrade

·         Permission Denied on Linux

Use: sudo  before installation commands.

Example: sudo apt install python3
