Our Approach for Corporate Training
Team Academy runs every corporate engagement through six stages, from needs assessment to 90-day post-training support, with a measurable target at each gate.
1. Assumptions and gaps to close
Assumptions
Typical cohort: 10–12 participants per batch, client-sponsored, in-person in Doha or virtual across the GCC.
Programme length: 2–5 days (e.g., PL-300, PMP, Excel, AI/Copilot, ITIL, ISO 31000).
Client provides a named sponsor (HR/L&D) and access to line managers.
Targets below are industry-standard benchmarks, not Team Academy historical data.
Gaps to close before adoption
Baseline: Team Academy's actual past satisfaction, pass rate and repeat-client figures.
Tooling: which LMS / survey tool hosts pre-tests, feedback and the 90-day follow-up.
Commercials: whether post-training support (Stage 6) is bundled or sold as an add-on.
Certification-led courses: confirm exam voucher and retake policy per vendor (Microsoft, PMI, PeopleCert).
2. Lifecycle at a glance
Six stages run in sequence; each closes with a sign-off gate before the next starts.
# | Stage | Duration | Key output | Gate / sign-off |
|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Needs assessment | 1–2 weeks | TNA report + skill-gap matrix | Sponsor approves objectives |
2 | Programme design | 1 week | Learning objectives, outline, assessment plan | Sponsor approves design |
3 | Development & preparation | 1–2 weeks | Customised materials, labs, logistics checklist | QA review passed |
4 | Delivery | 2–5 days | Delivered sessions, attendance, daily checks | Completion ≥ 90% |
5 | Evaluation | Day 0 to Day 90 | Kirkpatrick L1–L4 report | Report shared with sponsor |
6 | Post-training support | 30–90 days | Clinics, coaching, refresher assets | 90-day review meeting |
3. Stage 1 – Training needs assessment (TNA)
The TNA links training to a business problem the sponsor can measure, at three levels.
Level | Question | Methods | Output |
|---|---|---|---|
Organisation | Which business goal or KPI does training support? | Sponsor interview, strategy/KPI review | Business objective + success KPI |
Role / task | What must people do differently on the job? | Line-manager interviews, job/task analysis | Target competencies per role |
Individual | Who has which gap, and how large? | Pre-assessment test, self-rating survey, sample work review | Skill-gap matrix + cohort grouping |
Best practices
Start from the problem, not the course: confirm training is the right fix (vs. process, tools or incentives).
Use a short pre-test (15–20 questions) to set a measurable baseline per participant.
Split cohorts by level when the score spread exceeds ~30 points.
Agree 2–3 business KPIs with the sponsor now; they become the Level 4 measures in Stage 5.
Targets: pre-assessment response rate ≥ 85%; TNA report signed off within 10 working days.
4. Stage 2 – Programme design
Design works backwards from the agreed KPIs to objectives, activities and assessments.
Learning objectives: 4–8 per programme, written as observable actions (e.g., "build a star-schema model and publish a report to a workspace").
Blend: roughly 30% instruction, 60% hands-on practice, 10% review and assessment.
Client context: labs use the client's own data or sector-realistic cases (energy, government, finance).
Assessment plan: pre-test, daily checks, post-test and an on-the-job assignment, mapped to each objective.
Modality: in-person, virtual or hybrid; virtual blocks capped at 3.5 hours.
Certification courses: align to the official exam skills outline (e.g., PL-300, PMP ECO).
Targets: 100% of objectives mapped to an assessment; design approved in one review round.
5. Stage 3 – Development and preparation
Area | Checklist |
|---|---|
Materials | Slides, workbook, lab guides, datasets, quick-reference cards, all client-branded where agreed |
Quality | Peer review by a second trainer; dry run of every lab end to end |
Technology | Licences, sandbox tenants, software installed and tested 48 hours before Day 1 |
Logistics | Venue, catering, AV, joining instructions sent 5 working days ahead |
Participants | Pre-reading and pre-test completed; manager briefing note sent |
Trainer | Certified on the subject (MCT, PMP); briefed on TNA findings and cohort profile |
Targets: zero setup issues on Day 1; joining instructions delivered ≥ 5 working days before start.
6. Stage 4 – Delivery
Delivery is active and checked daily, so problems surface during the course, not after it.
Open each day with the agenda, objectives and a 5-minute recap quiz.
Practice-first: demo → guided lab → independent exercise, every 45–60 minutes.
Daily pulse: 2-question check (confidence, pace) at end of each day; adjust next day's plan.
Inclusion: mixed-level pairing, Arabic/English support where needed, accessible materials.
Attendance and engagement log shared with the sponsor daily for multi-day programmes.
Close with a personal action plan: 3 actions each participant will apply in 30 days.
Targets: attendance ≥ 90%; 100% of participants leave with a written action plan.
7. Stage 5 – Evaluation
Evaluation follows the Kirkpatrick model, with ROI added for high-value programmes.
Level | Measures | Method | When | Target |
|---|---|---|---|---|
L1 Reaction | Satisfaction, relevance, trainer rating | Feedback survey | End of course | Average ≥ 4.5 / 5; NPS ≥ +50 |
L2 Learning | Knowledge and skill gain | Pre/post test, practical assessment | Day 0 vs. last day | +30% average score gain; ≥ 80% pass |
L3 Behaviour | On-the-job application | Manager survey, assignment review | Day 30 and Day 60 | ≥ 70% applying 2+ actions |
L4 Results | Business KPI agreed in TNA | Client KPI data | Day 90 | Improvement agreed per client |
ROI | Benefit vs. cost | Phillips ROI method | Day 90 (selected programmes) | Positive ROI documented |
Certification courses add: first-attempt exam pass rate (target ≥ 80%).
Sponsor receives a one-page evaluation report within 5 working days of course end, updated at Day 90.
8. Stage 6 – Post-training support
Support over 90 days turns learning into habit and produces the Level 3–4 evidence.
Timing | Activity | Owner |
|---|---|---|
Day 1–7 | Course recording/materials pack, quick-reference cards shared | Trainer |
Day 7 | Reminder of personal action plan; manager briefing on how to support | Programme coordinator |
Day 14–30 | Two 60-minute online clinics (Q&A on real work problems) | Trainer |
Day 30 | Micro-learning refresher (short videos, 10-question quiz) | Programme coordinator |
Day 30–60 | Manager check-in on applied actions; L3 survey | Client manager + coordinator |
Day 60–90 | 1:1 or small-group coaching for priority staff (optional add-on) | Trainer |
Day 90 | Results review meeting with sponsor; next-step recommendations | Programme Director |
Dedicated support channel (WhatsApp/email) with replies within 1 working day.
Exam-prep support for certification courses until the exam date.
Targets: ≥ 60% clinic attendance; 90-day review held for 100% of corporate clients.
9. Targets scorecard and responsibilities
KPI | Target | Stage |
|---|---|---|
Pre-assessment response rate | ≥ 85% | 1 |
Attendance | ≥ 90% | 4 |
Participant satisfaction | ≥ 4.5 / 5 | 5 |
Knowledge gain (pre → post) | +30% | 5 |
Certification first-attempt pass | ≥ 80% | 5 |
On-the-job application at Day 60 | ≥ 70% | 5–6 |
Repeat or follow-on business | ≥ 50% of clients within 12 months | 6 |
Role | Responsibility |
|---|---|
Programme Director | Scope, TNA sign-off, design approval, 90-day review |
Trainer | TNA tests, materials, delivery, clinics, coaching |
Programme coordinator | Logistics, surveys, reminders, reporting |
Client sponsor (HR/L&D) | KPIs, data access, participant nomination |
Line managers | Release staff, support application, L3 feedback |
